Westside Neighborhood

Run out of energy before you run of out of things to do.

They call it the best side for more reasons than one.

As Holland grew southward, the city continued to follow the breathtaking coast of Lake Macatawa. As it did, Holland’s Westside became home to some of Michigan’s most amazing homes. With streets made for biking and miles of sidewalks and paths to explore, the Westside is perfect for people who love to have the great outdoors in their own backyard.

Montello Park.

Following WWII, the housing boom struck Holland’s Westside, helping to suburbanize Holland. These great homes in what is now known as Montello Park are mostly quaint-sized ranches. They are wonderful starter homes for young couples eager to get the next chapter of their life underway. They're also ideal for newly empty-nesters looking to downsize and relax.

Central Park.

This Westside waterfront neighborhood has everything from waterfront mansions and executive subdivisions, to summer cottages and modest single-family homes.

Cobblestone.

This new residential community of townhouses and single-family homes is situated on the southwest side of Holland. With its neo-traditional and historical designs, screened-in front porches and beautifully landscaped homes, Cobblestone embraces the warm neighborhood vibes of yesteryear. It’s narrow streets and oversized sidewalks readily encourage strolls to visit old friends and make new ones. Plus, there’s a pool to beat the summer heat!

In-town conveniences. Out-of-town peace and quiet.

The Westside is home to variety of dining delights and retail musts, including South Shore Village. Here you’ll find stores and restaurants, including a European flower market, local locksmith and a gem and jewelry store. It’s home to great dining options, too, including Margarita's, Jackie’s Place, the Way Cup Cafe and deBoer Bakkerij, all popular, locally-owned neighborhood joints. In addition to the restaurants, Westside is home to Central Park Market, a full-service grocery store, which features artisan cheeses, organic produce and hormone and antibiotic-free meats.

Healthier livability.

With biking and jogging paths everywhere, Heinz Waterfront Walkway, Lakeview Park and Lugers Park enable year-round healthy lifestyles.

DeGraaf Nature Center.

DeGraaf Nature Center is one of Holland's many hidden treasures. It comprises eighteen beautiful acres of woodlands, marshes, ponds and nature trails. Plus classes and summer programs for kids and adults alike!

Why the Westside?

This neighborhood is great for those who love to be outdoors. It's a diverse area, featuring new developments, waterfront homes, subdivisions, condos and up-and-coming apartments. Large yards are perfect for young families. Pockets of specialty stores include everything from fresh flowers and floral shops to skilled trade locksmiths.

Neighborhood Connections

3Sixty and Great Lakes Urban are two neighborhood development organizations working within two different areas of Holland’s Westside. Both organizations are among several Neighborhood Connection organizations working in partnership with the City of Holland to help build strong and connected neighborhoods where everyone feels that they belong. You can learn more about 3Sixty’s work in Montello Park here, and about Great Lakes Urban’s work in the south end (west of Washington Ave, roughly between 32nd St. and Matt Urban Dr.) here.
